Cardiac Electrophysiology

Columbia’s Heart Rhythm Program provides comprehensive care for patients with heart rhythm problems. We are a regional referral center with extensive expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of cardiac arrhythmias. Our doctors are nationally recognized for their established expertise and proven safety record in heart rhythm management.

We offer a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including:

  • Diagnosis of arrhythmias and their mechanisms
  • Risk assessment of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias
  • Catheter-based treatments for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia
  • Biventricular pacemaker/defibrillator implantation for heart failure patients who are candidates for this treatment
  • Implantation and management of pacemakers and defibrillators
  • Lead extraction for damaged or infected indwelling pacemakers and defibrillators
  • Care for patients with congenital heart disease or inherited arrhythmia disorders, in collaboration with Columbia’s renowned adult congenital heart disease and cardiac genetics programs
