Our Facilities

The Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health has just undergone a major move and renovation. Our new facility contains many state-of-the-art amenities that will better suit our clinical research needs. We have been privileged to design our space, so that key research functions are now grouped together in sensible ways, and we have a number of new resources such as larger Research Exam Rooms and a Research Blood Processing Room capable of seating up to 4 staff members. We have increased our capacity for postdoctoral scientists and fellows, and we have expanded our data core seating. To improve the comfort and efficiency of our center, we have new central heating and cooling system, a brand new private bathroom, and two pantry areas. New offices comfortably accommodate our staff and, bringing us to the 21st century in technology, our Center also now has wireless internet.  With a new  conference room we are able to see research participants in our study group sessions with more convenience for our patients, and our study groups can have over 10 professionals able to connect their lap tops directly to the table-top.  We believe the new physical plant will optimize and accelerate our research and training success.

We have recently expanded to a brand new laboratory, and we acquired additional state-of-the-art equipment. The Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health’s laboratory equipment includes: three large industrial refrigerated centrifuges, two Eppendorf microcentrifuges , four -80 ̊C and two -20 ̊C freezers, a laboratory refrigerator, automated hematology analyzer/cell counter (Pentra 60+ , Horiba Abx International, Montpelier, France), cone and platelet analyzer, a Four Channel optical aggregometer (Chronolog Corp, Havertown, PA) with software, optical microscope, digital multichannel pipetters, titer plate shaker, Fisher Isotemp Standard Lab Incubator, Microplate Universal Reader with Gen5 Software, labquake tube shaker, vortex mixer, mettle Toledo XS64 lab balance, Genesys 10 UV-Vis Scientific Spectrophotometer W/6 Pos printer, Bio-Rad SDS-PAGE and western blot unit, Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS-BD Biosciences) and a real time/quantitative PCR machine (Applied Biosystems 7900HT Fast Real-Time PCR System). The expansion of the laboratory will also serve as a training ground for a new generation of medical students, residents and fellows rotating through our Center.
