Phanthaphan Sureeyathanaphat, MD

Dr. Phanthaphan Sureeyathanaphat is a cardiologist specializing in advanced structural echocardiography and the evaluation and management of complex valvular heart disease. Her clinical expertise focuses on the use of advanced echocardiographic techniques to evaluate complex valvular and structural heart disease and to guide treatment planning and procedural decision-making. She serves as a faculty member in the Division of Cardiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Dr. Sureeyathanaphat completed her medical education, internal medicine residency, cardiovascular disease fellowship, and echocardiography fellowship in Thailand before pursuing specialized structural echocardiography training in the United States. She completed her advanced structural echocardiography fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where she developed expertise in advanced echocardiography imaging in valvular heart diease and echocardiographic guidance for transcatheter structural heart interventions.

Dr. Sureeyathanaphat’s clinical practice focuses on advanced echocardiographic assessment of valvular heart disease and structural heart procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER), transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR), tricuspid valve interventions, and left atrial appendage occlusion. Her work emphasizes the integration of detailed imaging analysis with multidisciplinary structural heart team decision-making to optimize patient care.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Sureeyathanaphat is involved in education and research related to structural heart imaging and transcatheter valve therapies. Her academic interests include advancing the role of echocardiography in the diagnosis, procedural planning, and longitudinal management of patients with complex valvular heart disease.
