Highlights of Our Center
Pioneers in Valve Disease Treatment
Our physicians are established leaders for innovative treatment solutions for valve disease. Columbia played a foundational role in the development and adoption of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVRs), and continues to expand today’s treatments, including studies examining new therapy options for mitral and tricuspid valve disease.
Unmatched Success
Our outstanding success rate speaks volumes about our experience and expertise. The Columbia Structural Heart and Valve Center performs over 1,000 structural procedures per year, including many complex, high-risk procedures. According to a recent New York State Department of Health report, only the Columbia Structural Heart and Valve Center performed significantly better than the state average for TAVRs—no other area hospital came close.
The Skill to Train Other Experts
Our center serves as one of just a few training sites in the U.S. on TAVRs. In fact, CUIMC has trained well over 50 percent of the heart teams in the U.S. who now perform TAVRs in their own centers.
An Epicenter for Research
Columbia’s proud legacy of innovation continues as a major site for national and international clinical trials. Our providers regularly lead research that opens the door for tomorrow’s minimally invasive cardiac treatments. Our Mitral & Tricuspid Center is the most advanced center of its kind, home to the latest technologies, clinical trials, and world-class procedural expertise.
Fellowships
The Columbia Structural Heart and Valve Center offers two 1-year advanced fellowship programs. Applicants must have completed general cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships.
